Retired Malibu Firefighter Roger Carl Hanson Dies

Roger Carl Hanson was a career fireman for Los Angeles County Fire Department and spent the majority of his career here in Malibu at Station 88 on Malibu Road.

Roger Carl Hanson passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 17, 2012.  He was born February 13, 1946 in Southern California and lived most of his life here in Malibu raising his children and grandchildren.

He was very proud of his family as well as to his service to Malibu. He was a career fireman for Los Angeles County Fire Department and spent the majority of his career here in Malibu at Station 88 on Malibu Road. While a fireman Roger was a very dedicated firefighter who served the Malibu community with dignity and devotion for over 24 years. In his earlier years he spent many days enjoying the pleasures of the pacific ocean, from surfing to fishing as well as just hanging out at the beach with friends and family. 

He is survived by his mother, Katherine Mary Stanislaus, sister, Gail, two sons, Chris and Ty Hanson, and eight grandchildren, Cally, Hunter, Connor, Fisher, Emily, Jack, Matthew and Lucas.

A flag ceremony will take place at Fire Station 88, 23720 Malibu Road, on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at noon. Following the ceremony, there will be a celebration of Roger’s life at , 21150 Pacific Coast Highway, beginning 1 p.m. in the Moana Room.
