Pepperdine's Media Relations Director Dies Following Illness

Bill Krenn came to Pepperdine in 2010 after spending over a decade at The Phelps Group in Santa Monica.

Bill Krenn, Pepperdine University's director of media relations, died on Saturday after battling a prolonged illness at the age of 64.

Krenn, who had 30 years of public relations experience, came to Pepperdine in 2010 after more than a decade at The Phelps Group in Santa Monica.

As Pepperdine's director of media relations, he worked to help publish several high profile stories in both local and national publications promoting the University, including an article by women's basketball coach Julie Rousseau published in Guideposts magazine, according to Jerry Derloshon, Pepperdine's senior director of Public Affairs.

A prayer and reflection service hosted by Pepperdine chaplain Dave Lemley is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 in Pepperdine's Stauffer Chapel in Malibu.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at Saint Monica's Catholic Church, 725 California Avenue in Santa Monica.

The family asks that small flower arrangements be sent to Saint Monica's Parish Office at 725 California Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90403, clearly marked for Bill Krenn's memorial, or donations in Bill's name can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
