The Joy Of Adopting A Small Dog

There’s no bone about it -- dogs are great – big or small! But if you are thinking of getting a dog, be sure not to rule out adopting a small one. For some a small dog will be the perfect companion and presently there is a plethora of them at the Agoura Shelter.

Small dogs are so mobile you can take them practically everywhere with you. And if you are out on a long walk and your little buddy tires out, just pick him up and carry him along!

1.    Most people automatically assume they’re friendly

2.    When it’s bath time, you can easily put him in the tub or sink and minutes later you’re done

3.    They can sleep with you  -- without taking over the bed

4.    They tend to live longer than bigger dogs

5.    They fit easily into all types of homes (house, loft or condo)

6.    Some aren’t as intimidating to children or cats

7.    Many landlords allow small dogs – just ask

8.    They can cuddle in your lap easier than big dogs

9.    For older people, they are often a more realistic choice

10. They are easier to walk when they get excited

While the key is “easier” it’s only because a big dog has more mass. In the unconditional love department – it’s equal. Either way, big or small, your dog will give you his all!
