14 Arrested at Overnight Checkpoint in Malibu

1,363 vehicles pass through the checkpoint, which is on PCH at Carbon Canyon Road, in eastern Malibu.

Fourteen unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court during an overnight driver's license and sobriety checkpoint in Malibu, a sheriff's detective said Sunday.

Also, two motorists driving on a suspended or revoked license were arrested at the checkpoint on Pacific Coast Highway, which began at 7 p.m. Saturday and ended at 3 a.m. today, said Detective Michael Ranes of the sheriff's Malibu/Lost Hills station.

Ranes said a suspect was arrested on a $15,000 traffic warrant. Two vehicles were impounded for one day and two vehicles were impounded for 30 days.

The sheriff's detective said 1,363 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was on PCH at Carbon Canyon Road, in eastern Malibu.
