Firefighters Quickly Put Out Brush Fire

A helicopter aids in the firefighting near Mulholland Highway above Malibu.

Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department put out a small brush fire near Mulholland Highway, west of Kanan Road, near Malibu Sunday evening.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lost Hills Station got a call about the blaze at around 5:25 p.m., Lt. Robert Wiard, the watch commander on duty at the station, said. No details about the fire were immediately available.

"It was pretty quick," Wiard said, referring to the firefighting response. The fire was limited to an area probably 20 feet by 20 feet, and traffic is flowing in the area, he added.

At least one helicopter aided the firefighting, according to nearby residents.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
