Fire at Malibu Pier Under Investigation

The Pier was evacuated and traffic on PCH was diverted as firefighters responded.

The source of a small fire at the Malibu Pier on Wednesday is under investigation, authorities said.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said a call was received at 1:30 p.m. about a "smoldering fire" at the end of the pier, located at 23000 Pacific Coast Highway. The fire was out by 2 p.m.

Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Lt. Patrick Mathers said the pier was evacuated and traffic on PCH was diverted while firefighters responded.

No one was injured and no damage was immediately reported, according to the LACFD. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
