LASD: Suspected Identity Thief May Have Bilked Hundreds of Victims
Deputies say Reon Jordan's alleged scheme had her using lifted credit card numbers of victims from Malibu, among other places.
A suspected identity thief purloined her victims’ information from a previous job at a medical billing company and used the money to pay for classes at West Los Angeles College, Los Angeles Sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies from the department’s Community College Bureau arrested Reon Jordan, 34 today, at her Los Angeles home on suspicion of identity theft.
Jordan first caught deputies’ attention after allegedly buying $1,000 in in gift receipts she would then turn around and use to pay for classes, according to a LASD press release.

Deputies allege Jordan acquired the credit card numbers through her prior employment at ABEO, a medical billing company with offices in Pasadena.
She also used the credit cards, deputies say, to buy hair extensions for herself, clothing, jewelry and airline tickets to Alaska.

Sheriff’s officials fear there could be hundreds of identity theft victims.
“During the course of several search warrants, [Jordan] was found to be in possession of over 400 identity profiles and over 200 credit numbers for other victims,” according to the press release.
