By City News Service

A sobriety and driver's license checkpoint in Malibu netted 25 arrests overnight, authorities said Saturday.

One person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the checkpoint, which was set up between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 a.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Philip Brooks of the sheriff's Malibu/Lost Hills Station.

One driver was arrested for operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license and 17 were collared for being unlicensed, Brooks said.

Two suspects with outstanding warrants were nabbed and four were arrested for having open alcoholic beverage containers, he said.

Five vehicles were impounded—two on 30-day holds and one on a one-day hold, Brooks said.

A total 1,829 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 1,570 drivers were screened, he said.
