Actor Dick Van Dyke safely escaped from his burning four-door Jaguar Monday in Calabasas.

The Jaguar caught fire around 2 p.m. on the eastbound Ventura (101) Freeway near Parkway Calabasas, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The website TMZ reports that a passerby assisted the actor from the vehicle, and he was home safe. His wife posted a video on Vine, showing the burnt out Jaguar. Watch the video above.

Van Dyke is star of the classic comedy series "The Dick Van Dyke Show'' and films such as "Mary Poppins'' and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.''

The comedian Tweeted Monday night: "Used Jag for sale REAL CHEAP!!"
