Man Kidnaps Wife at Gunpoint on PCH in Malibu Before Raping Her, Police Say

Rudy Zendejas is arrested at 5:45 p.m. Saturday by the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Department.

A Los Angeles man was behind bars today on suspicion of kidnapping his wife at gunpoint in Malibu and forcing her to drive him to Los Angeles where he raped her in her car, a sheriff's lieutenant said.

Rudy Zendejas, 27, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, in Los Angeles, said sheriff's Lt. Josh Thai, of the Malibu/Lost Hills station. Zendejas had a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his possession at the time of his arrest, Thai said.

Zendejas allegedly kidnapped his wife at gunpoint as she left work near the 22000 block of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Thai said.

He allegedly forced her to drive to a poorly lit residential area near Gramercy Street in Los Angeles where he raped her in the car, Thai said.

The victim then was forced to drive the suspect to Western Avenue and 2nd Street, where Zendejas fled, the lieutenant  said. The unidentified victim then drove home and reported the crime to authorities, Thai said.

Zendejas was booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's station on kidnapping with the intent to commit rape and spousal battery, Thai said.

He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail, Thai said.
