Nine Arrests Made at Malibu's Friday Sobriety Checkpoint

Only one was for driving under the influence.

n overnight driver's license and sobriety checkpoint in Malibu netted a total of nine arrests, a sheriff's sergeant said today.

One motorist was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and two motorists driving on a suspended or revoked license were arrested and sent to court during the checkpoint. It was on Pacific Coast Highway near Pepperdine University, began at 7 p.m. Friday and ended at 3 a.m. today, said Sgt. Daniel Dail of the sheriff's Malibu/Lost Hills station.

Also, six allegedly unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court, two vehicles were stored for one day and two vehicles were impounded for 30 days during the checkpoint, according to Dail.
