A Malibu man and his son may have been on board a twin-engine Cessna Citation jet aircraft that veered off a runway and crashed into a hangar during landing at Santa Monica Airport on Sunday, according to a Southern California construction company's website.
The identity of those aboard has not been officially released, but Morley Builders' Vice President Charles Muttillo issued a statement Monday saying, "While we do not have specific facts, we believe that our President and CEO, Mark Benjamin, and his son, Luke Benjamin, a Senior Project Engineer with us were on board."
Muttillo said the company will update its site as it learns more.
Morley Builders has an office on Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica. The plane is registered to Benjamin, who lives on Morning View Drive in Malibu. Benjamin is a longtime Malibu resident, who is known for his volunteer work in the community.
