Detectives said today there apparently was no foul play involved in the death of a 25-year-old woman whose body was found in the garage of her Malibu home, but the cause of death has been deferred pending the results of toxicology tests.
Katherine Wilkins was found dead in the garage of the residence in the 23400 block of Moon Shadows Drive on Saturday evening, the sheriff's department reported.
An autopsy was conducted this morning, but the cause of death was pending the results of toxicology tests, which can take several weeks.
"At this time, it appears [there] was no foul play involved in the death of Ms. Wilkins,'' according to a sheriff's department statement. "The investigation is ongoing.''
The woman's father, Rob Wilkins, told ABC7 that his daughter's BMW was missing. "This is just the worst day of my life,'' he said.
The neighborhood is an unlikely one for crime, a cul-de-sac off Rambla Pacfico. The license plate on Wilkins' missing 1998 silver-colored Z3, which has a red interior, is 4AMN588.
Her brother found his sister's body, their father told CBS2.
"We have no idea who would do this,'' he said. "It's a mystery.''
