Sheriff's Department Plans DUI, License Checkpoint

The checkpoint is aimed at reducing the amount of alcohol-related deaths in Malibu.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will hold a DUI checkpoint next week in Malibu.

The checkpoint will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 at an undisclosed location within the city limits of Malibu between the hours of 7 p.m. and 3:30 a.m., according to the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Station.

Deputies will be checking drivers passing through the checkpoint for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment.

"Research shows that crashes involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized checkpoints are conducted often enough," according to the Sheriff's Department.
