Small Earthquake in Malibu Today; Did You Notice?

It struck the Trancas Beach area.

A small earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 2.6, struck the Trancas Beach area of Malibu today.

Automated USGS sensors report the micro-quake hit at 8:25 a.m. with an epicenter 11 miles below the surface.

The epicenter was located offshore, 6 miles west-southwest of Point Dume. That would be 13 miles west-southwest of the Malibu Civic Center, automated USGS devices indicated.
