Suspected San Diego County Kidnapper Took Girl on Day Trips to Malibu

Details emerge about the kidnapping case of Hannah Anderson in court documents.

Suspected kidnapper and murderer James DiMaggio took a San Diego teenager on multiple day trips to Malibu and Hollywood, according to reports.

Authorities say James Lee DiMaggio, 40, killed Christina Anderson, her son, Ethan, and their dog at his eastern San Diego County log cabin on Aug. 4, and kidnapped her 16-year-old daughter before setting the cabin and garage on fire.

Authorities located DiMaggio and Hannah Anderson last Saturday near Morehead Lake, about 80 miles northeast of Boise, Idaho. He was fatally shot and the girl, who was unharmed, was told of the deaths of her mother and brother.

Investigators learned that DiMaggio, who the family called "Uncle Jim,'' took Hannah Anderson on multiple day trips, including to Malibu and Hollywood.

Hannah Anderson's initial disappearance triggered an Amber Alert.

According to a separate search warrant, Hannah Anderson was picked up from cheerleading practice at Sweetwater High School about 4 p.m. on Aug. 4.

Records show that prior to her phone and DiMaggio's phone being shut off that afternoon, they called each other 13 times, according to the warrant.
