The two lanes of Newton Canyon Road in Malibu are open again in both directions in Malibu after a two-car collision shut both down for nearly 90 minutes this evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at 6:46 p.m. at Newton Canyon and Kanan Dume roads, said Officer Peter Bishop of the California Highway Patrol.

All lanes were open again as of 8:23 p.m., though no additional details about the crash were available, Bishop said.

An investigation was ongoing.

Small correction - but it was Kanan that was closed in both directions last night - the collision was @ Kanan and Newton.

I believe it to be more than a coincidence the Rosenthal Winery is on this road. How many accidents does it take? This is the second in less than a week. I for one believe that's enough...

Like Jamie said it was Kanan. There are a few wineries off and on this road and breweries on the Agoura side. To single one out is wrong. Malibu Family can be the culprit. Or even M Cafe. Looked like the accident involved two Prius'. I'll bet they just finished a hike and were pumped up about the up coming earth day, got carried away and thru their excitement lost their minds and crossed the double yellow. How many times does this have to happen before we stop Prius drivers from driving poorly...?
