Los Angeles County firefighters are being stationed throughout fire prone areas, including parts of the Santa Monica Mountains as Santa Ana winds whip through the area.
A wind advisory for northeast winds between 15 to 35 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expired at noon Friday in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
Firefighters remain on alert and have "prepositioned equipment in fire prone areas," according to the official Los Angeles County Fire Department Twitter account.
Warmer and drier temperatures are expected over the weekend, as well as the possibility of critical fire weather to Los Angeles and Ventura county mountains through Friday night.
The temperature is expected to reach into the upper 70s to low 80s over the weekend with overnight lows in upper 50s, according to the National Weather Service. The warmer weather follows a taste of fall earlier in the week, when temperatures dipped into the upper 60s and lower 70s.
