The project calls for a 274,936 square-foot hotel complex with 146 rooms on a 27-acre site, including a multi-level parking structure, on the corner of Malibu Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway.

The draft of the environmental impact report for the Rancho Malibu Hotel was released Thursday.

The project calls for a 274,936 square-foot hotel complex with 146 rooms on a 27-acre site on the corner of Malibu Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway. The plans include 21 detached casitas.

The proposed hotel project will provide 543 parking spaces, split up into parking 54 spots for employees and guests and a multi-level parking structure with 489 parking spaces. In the parking structure, up to 238 could be utilized through a valet parking operation.

Comments will be received through Dec. 2 and should be sent to Malibu Associate Planner Ha Ly by mail at 23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu, 90265.

An environmental impact report studies the impact proposed development would have on the environment in the area, including traffic, fire protection,  archeological artifacts and aesthetics.

Malibu Patch will have more analysis on the report soon.
