Meetings Set to Discuss PCH Safety Study Alternatives

The city plans to launch an interactive website to coincide with the public meetings and provide additional opportunities for the public to provide feedback.

Malibu will be host two public meetings this month as part of the city’s Pacific Coast Highway Safety Study.

The meetings are set for Aug. 20 and Aug. 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Malibu City Hall, according to Elizabeth Shavelson, Malibu's public works analyst. The meetings will focus on a review of the draft Alternatives Analysis Report, next steps and a project schedule. 

The city, in collaboration with the Southern California Association of Governments, is conducting a safety study along PCH to examine current road conditions, determine accident patterns, assess traffic conflicts and develop strategies to improve safety.

The study will conclude with recommendations for improvements along PCH for motorists, motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians.

In addition, the city will launch an interactive website to coincide with the public meetings and provide additional opportunities for the public to provide feedback.

The feedback received from the public and project stakeholders will be used to finalize the Alternatives Analysis and develop a list of recommended projects.
