The design firm behind the new restaurant next to Nobu on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu has applied for extended hours to include a breakfast service.
The Malibu Planning Commission will consider at its March 4 meeting at Malibu City Hall a conditional use permit to open at 7 a.m. instead of 11 a.m. daily, according to a staff report released on Thursday.
The owner of the building is listed on the application as Malibu Cantina, LLC. Severine Tatangelo of Studio PCH, which designed the restaurant, is listed as the applicant for the extended hours.
City staff has recommended approval of the extended hours of operation. A public notice was published on Feb. 7.
It's rumored that the original deal with Malibu Cantina, a Wolfgang Puck enterprise, fell through and that the space is up for lease.
Construction was completed on the restaurant, which is located at 22716 Pacific Coast Highway next to Nobu Malibu, earlier this year.
The building is listed as "unoccupied" in the conditional use permit application.
