Malibu Councilman Skylar Peak Discusses Fight With Bipolar Disorder

Peak's troubles have garnered support from the community, according to L.A. Currents.

The challenges that come with battling bipolar disorder have come to the forefront for Malibu City Councilmember Skylar Peak, who chatted with L.A. Currents to talk about his fight against the disorder while also being a central talking point in a discussion about mental health issues and some of his past transgressions.

“How do I come out and say, ‘Look, I have [bipolar disorder], but I am OK,’” said Peak, to L.A. Currents. “My behavior hasn’t entirely shown that and I am responsible for that and I have to change that, but it doesn’t happen overnight.”
