Work Continues on PCH at Zuma Beach

The lane closures are in place as Caltrans works on the removal of the raised concrete center median in order to make way for the temporary relocation of Fire Station No. 71.

Lanes in both directions of Pacific Coast Highway will be closed through Tuesday night for road work near Zuma Beach.

Caltrans is working on the removal of the raised concrete center median in order to make way for the temporary relocation of Fire Station No. 71, which is undergoing an overhaul on Zumirez Drive.

The closure of the No. 1 northbound and southbound lanes began Monday night and will continue through 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to the city of Malibu.

"While housed at Zuma Beach, fire trucks will need to cross the PCH median into and out of the Zuma Beach parking lot," according to the city. "For this reason, the existing raised concrete center median will be temporarily removed to allow for egress and ingress of fire vehicles."

Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to plan for extra time.
