Beach Boys “Malibu Style” Estate

In 1963, the song Surfin' USA roared toward the top of the charts, buoyed by a list of the band members' top surf destinations including MariSol's County Line Beach.

It’s not often that your home community is lyricized in a Beach Boys’ song, but when you live at the MariSol community, perched atop one of the best surf beaches in Malibu, County Line Beach, then there is a good chance that the notorious noble surfers, the Beach Boys, have been there too.

In 1963, the song Surfin' USA roared toward the top of the charts, buoyed by a list of the band members' top surf destinations including MariSol's County Line Beach.

Tucked into Malibu’s northern shore, County Line Beach exhibits the rural, resort-style, quiet and sleepy, old Malibu vibe that attracted celebrities and the Beach Boys to Malibu's shores in the early 20th century. The designers of this community expected to harness and perpetuate that old Malibu charm in part by teaming with famed architect Barry Berkus.

Barry Berkus, who recently passed away, was known by many for his grand, open-space, multi-generational architecture. One of the last residential homes in the legendary career of architectural genius Barry Berkus is a spectacular Malibu beach house located in an award-winning 80-acre, 17 estate luxury Malibu real estate community. In 1999, Builder magazine counted Berkus as one of the 100 most influential individuals in the past century of American housing.

A stone's throw from the beach, this Berkus home was just finished and aptly named the Spanish Estate. It is a brand new contemporary, Spanish-style, fully furnished, single-story masterpiece elevated on a 102 foot bluff top with 130 feet of oceanfront. There is a covered courtyard with outdoor furniture, infinity pool and separate spa. There is a TV, bathroom and a unique bluff top “beach.” The home is landscaped with mature palms, specimen cactus, rare succulents and ferns in lighted gardens with fountains, patios and seating areas.

The home features twin master suites with sunrise & sunset views; 60’ great room with 16’ ceilings, Crestron/Lutron electronic system; theatre, office, gym, wine room, 2 wet bars & formal dining room, 5 fireplaces, limestone & oak flooring; oak ceilings, parking for 10 cars including a 3-car garage with lift space, security system and video cameras and stone perimeter walls.

When you make this house your home, you aren’t just buying a home; you are buying into a community of successful like-minded individuals.  MariSol includes resort-quality amenities like community security, a botanical garden, private home maintenance, concierge and native landscaping.

The Botanical Garden is a welcome feature as a beautiful display of California native flora and majestic 100 year old Coastal Oaks that are flourishing with colorful Monarch Butterflies. Officially listed as a Monarch Butterfly Waystation, the endangered Monarch Butterfly makes its layover at the Botanical Garden to feed on its host nectar plants and lay its precious eggs on the critically important milkweed plant which the developers have propagated throughout.

Berkus’ innovative style made MariSol the award-winning luxury Malibu real estate community that it is today. If the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson would visit this newest Malibu beach house today, 50 years after Surfin' USA debuted; I'd expect him to say, "I feel like I have come home."

This home is currently listed for sale at $15.9 million. For more information contact the MariSol sales office at 310-589-8848 or sales@marisolmalibu.com or visit http://marisolmalibu.com/en/malibu-homes/malibu-beach-house-sale-spanish-estate/.
