Malibu High Seeks to 'Erase Hate' With Peace Fence

The theater department is asking the entire campus to get involved to help spread the message of tolerance.

Students and staff from the theater department of Malibu High School are asking the entire campus to tie ribbons to a fence as part of an "Erase Hate" campaign later this week in Malibu.

The project is in preparation for the MHS Theater Production of “The Laramie Project,” which is about the hate killing of Matthew Shepard.

The fence outside the high school will be designated as a "Peace Fence," and students, faculty and the community will be asked to tie ribbons on the fence as a representation of tolerance, according to organizers.

The event will take place during lunchtime on Oct. 30 for high school students and Oct. 31 for middle school students.

The theater department is asking the entire campus to get involved to help spread the message of tolerance, according to MHS Theater Director Jodi Plaia.

The Malibu community is also invited to join in anytime on Halloween.
