Malibu Sophomore Finishes Sixth at State Cross Country Meet

Caroline Pietrzyk places in the top 10 out of 202 runners.

Malibu High School Sophomore Caroline Pietrzyk finished sixth place in the Division IV California Interscholastic Federation State Cross Country Championships on Saturday, at Woodward Park, in Fresno, California.

Pietrzyk ran the 3.1-mile championship course in 18:35 on a warm, sunny afternoon to place in the top 10 out of 202 runners. Anna Frazer of Scotts Valley won her second consecutive title in the Div. IV race finishing in 18:00.

“It was an amazing day for Caroline,” said Head MHS Cross Country Coach Karen Costello. “The competition was phenomenal and the race went out very fast with the first runners passing the mile-mark in 5:20. Caroline stayed controlled and ran her own race as she always does. We’re all vey proud of her.”
