Malibu Woman’s Club Honors Fifth Grade Essay Winners

The theme of the essay contest was "Pay it Forward."

The Malibu Woman’s Club recently awarded 17 scholarships to local fifth grade students.

“They give us reason to face the future optimistically," said Charlotte Ward, MWC Scholarship Chairman.

The fifth grade students from four local elementary schools received prizes based on an essay contest. Members of Malibu Woman’s Club read over 200 submissions and awarded $150 to the first place winners and $100 to the second place winners.

The theme of the essay was "Pay it Forward."

The students described a scope of good deeds, from thoughtful things that they performed at home or in the community to projects in Honduras and Africa.
