Pepperdine to Honor the Victims of 9/11
A ceremony will take place on Wednesday at the Thomas Burnett Heroes Garden.
Pepperdine University will be hosting its annual ceremony in honor of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
This year's tribute will include a devotional by Matthew McCay, a Seaver College graduate student and a former military commander.
Prayers will be offered by Associate Chaplain Jen Christy, and Michael Shires, Pepperdine's associate professor of public policy will read a scripture in honor of the occasion.
Student Government President Demisse Selassie, along with military veterans Sergeant Jaime Gladin and Officer Alex Carrillo, will present a memorial wreath.
The event will take place from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the Thomas Burnett Heroes Garden on the Drescher Campus at Pepperdine located at 24255 Pacific Coast Highway.
The garden was named in honor of Burnett, a Pepperdine alum who lost his life on Sept. 11, 2001, on United Airlines Flight 93 when it crashed in Pennsylvania.
