PHOTO: Zuma Youth Orchestra Performs at Holiday Concert

The orchestra features local students from grades 6 to 9.

The Zuma Youth Orchestra took part in a special holiday concert this month at the Malibu Civic Theater.

The students performed versions of Celtic Roots by Soon Hee Newbold, Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, arranged by Robert Longfield, and Teddy Bears' Picnic by John W. Bratton, arranged by Bob Lipton on Friday, Dec. 7.

"The Zuma Ensemble is really not your average youth orchestra. Everything from selecting the repertoire to running the rehearsals is done by its members. It's really just a group of young, motivated musicians that I have the pleasure of working with," John Kibler, founder and director, said.
