Big Day for Malibu High Athletics

Several Sharks teams are competing in the postseason or finishing the regular season with postseason aspirations.

Four of the five varsity fall sports teams are competing today, with three participating in postseason contests. The football team is playing its final regular season game, and a victory could put the Sharks in the postseason.

Boys water polo will be the only one competing at Malibu High. The Sharks (19-6-1) will take on Hemet (11-14) in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 tournament. The game is scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.

Girls tennis will also be competing in Malibu, on the campus. The Sharks (15-1) will take on Adolfo Camarillo in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3 tournament. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

Girls volleyball on Tuesday. The score was 3-0 (25-10,25-12,25-16). The Sharks will travel to Anaheim to take on Fairmont Prep (12-6) in the second round. The Huskies beat California Lutheran 3-0 (25-23,25-13,25-19) in the first round.

Football (5-4, 1-2) will be in Oxnard tonight for its final regular season game of 2011. The Sharks will play against fellow Frontier League member Santa Clara (1-7-1, 1-2). A Malibu win combined with some outside help will put the Sharks in the playoffs.
