Bryan Brothers Are Doubling Their Efforts

The world's No. 1 duo will host a tennis exhibition at the Malibu Racquet Club.

Mike and Bob Bryan are not only the top-ranked doubles tennis team in the world, the twin brothers are also accomplished musicians who have their own band and know how to rock.

Mike plays the drums, Bob plays the keyboard and their father Wayne plays the guitar. The brothers on Oct. 22 will host a fundraiser they call the "Bryan Brothers Slam Jam" at the Malibu Racquet Club.

The all-time winningest doubles team will participate along with some of their fellow ATP Tour professionals in a tennis pro-am and exhibition at 2 p.m., followed by an outdoor concert at 6 p.m. at the Malibu Racquet Club. The event will benefit the Bryan Brothers Foundation and is being catered by The Cheese Box at Wally's.

"We are exited to once again be hosting this very special foundation event for the greatest team in tennis history," Malibu Racquet Club General Manager Trey Waltke said. "We want to invite everyone out to join us at our beautiful Malibu Racquet Club for an exciting day of tennis, gourmet food from Wally's Wine and Spirits and an intimate concert on the patio performed by the boys and their music friends."

The twins were born and grew up in nearby Camarillo, graduating from Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard in 1996 and going on to play tennis at Stanford University. They have won a record 73 ATP doubles titles and 11 Grand Slams. The brothers turned pro in 1998, and between 2005 and 2006, they set an Open Era record by playing in seven straight men's doubles Grand Slam finals, winning three. They have also accumulated an 18-2 doubles record in the Davis Cup.

The Bryans were awarded the top seed at the United States Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., but were upset in the first round, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, by unseeded Ivo Karlovic of Croatia and Frank Moser of Germany.
