Friday Wave Check

A bit more energy!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Malibu Patch surf report. Well this latest swell that everyone has been talking about doesn't seem to be bringing much in the way of waves to this area. So once again ... you're going to have to do a little driving to find some playful waves.

It's fairly clean or light offshore early on, with a mix of some small west/northwest swell, a bit of northwest energy and minor amount of southwesterly swell in the water.

That recipe is offering some crumbly and dumpy lines, with a few workable ones.  Most Malibu spots are running about knee- to maybe waist-high, with the top breaks pulling not much more than that.

Taking a look at those tides ... at 10:50 a.m., it will drop to a 1.1 low, and then will not push back up to a 4.6 high until 3:34 a.m. Saturday. So, basically you're not going to see much change, and many spots will be lacking water throughout the day.

If you're planning on paddling, get out at least a 3/2 fullsuit or the 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temp hanging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!
