Malibu Baseball Eyes Playoffs

Six seniors, dubbed the Malibu 6, could lead the team into the playoffs next week.

The Malibu Sharks who now stand at 14-8 overall and 5-5 in conference play will play Carpinteria next week and that series will decide the Sharks playoff fate.

The Sharks have been slumping of late dropping both of this weeks games to first place St. Bonaventure. The Sharks lost 7-1 on Wednesday and  5-1 on Friday at MHS.

The Sharks received great pitching from senior Harry McAlevey, who went 5 innings giving up two runs on Friday. Sophomore Noah Simon pitched a scoreless 6th and going into the bottom 6th, the Sharks had runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs, down 2-1 when senior Hunter Johnson struck out looking, with a great chance to take late lead ending the rally.  The loss means the sharks are now out of 1st place contention for the league championship and next weeks final season series against Carpinteria will have lots of playoff implications.
