In just his third career snowboardcross race, Trevor Jacob of Malibu claimed the U.S. title at Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah this weekend.
Jacob edged past U.S. team member Hagen Kearney on the final jump of the race on Saturday.
Jacob, who trains with the U.S. team but is not yet a member, will be one of the top competitors to make the Olympic team for snowboardcross.
Snowboardcross is a competition in which a group of snowboarders, typically four, race down an inclined course with turns, gap jumps, and steep and flat sections. The event was added to the winter Olympics in 2006.
