Sharks Keep Firm Hold on First Place

Malibu Sharks baseball moves to 16-3 and 6-1 in league play.

The Sharks win on Friday moves them to 6-1 in league play, all alone in first place and 16-3 overall on the season. 

Sophomore Andre Simoneau goes 5 strong innings giving up one run to earn the win Friday before Junior Standout Chase Lambert throws 2 scoreless innings to earn his 6th save of the year. 

Chase Lambert singled to lead off the game and took second on a Dylan Ross Sacrifice. Lambert stole third base and Sophomore Austin George scored him on an RBI sacrifice fly to take an early 1-0 lead.

Freshman Ezra Allen hit an RBI double to right center to score senior Alvaro "Alvie" Alvarado who had two more hits. Sophomore Bronson Bard went 1 for 2 and drew a bases loaded RBI walk giving the Sharks their 3rd and final run of the game.  With the stellar pitching of Simoneau and Lambert who pitched 5 and 2 innings respectively did not allow an earned run and the final was 3-1.

The Sharks beat Fillmore all 3 times they played them this year (6-4, 7-0 and today's 3-1) to earn the 3 game series sweep.

The Sharks have eight league games left before playoffs and one more win will equal the school record for wins. The Sharks have their sights set on the best year in Malibu History, a league title and deep CIF playoff run.  

The Sharks next opponent is Santa Clara High in a home and home series Wednesday and Friday with the Sharks traveling to Santa Clara on Wed and playing at Sharks Stadium on Friday.  

The Sharks beat Santa Clara 3-2 earlier in the year. Santa Clara currently sits at 3-3 in league play.  Let's Go Sharks!
