Sharks Baseball Heads to Tourney Championship

Junior Chase Lambert hits the game winning 2 RBI double and earns the win on the mound securing a 3-1 victory over opponent Channel Islands.

The Sharks remain undefeated and move to 4-0 in 2013 and will play for the Championship of the Southern California invitational for the second straight year.

The Sharks were the 2012 Tourney champs at 5-0 and they are hoping for a repeat in 2013.

Sophomore Andre Simoneau went toe to toe with channel islands senior Isaiah Cisneros and the two hurlers took shutouts into the 5th inning. Channel islands struck first with a two out double to center that scored the games first run.

It was the second impressive outing for sophomore lefty Simoneau, who has unlimited potential as a pitcher and will continue getting better and better daily.
Simoneau left in the 5th down 1-0 with a runner on second for CI and helped keep Malibu in line for the win.

Junior standout All county player Chase Lambert took the game over from there. He left shortstop to pitch and ended channel islands scoring threat in the 5th.

In the bottom of the fifth, the resilient Sharks tied the game on a Nick Anthony single and then with 2 on, Lambert launched a double to right center scoring both runs to give the Shakrs a 3-1 lead. Lambert then struck out 4 of the next six hitters to earn the win and end the day for Channel Islands.

Lambert has now struck out 9 hitters in 4 and 1/3 innings this season as is 1-0. He also went 2-3 with 2 rbis and another double, his 5th already in this young season. Lambert  continues to be on a tear to start to his junior year and is one of the best high school players in Southern California. He was First Team All-TriValley and All Ventura as a sophomore and his development over the next two years (and beyond) will be fun to watch.

The Sharks will defend their tournament championship on Wednesday and then open up the all important conference season on Friday.

While the Dodgers and Angels are fun to watch, it's too much money and traffic.  Come watch exciting great baseball right here in Malibu. And for free... It's a win/win and a Sharks win. That's 3 wins just for coming out to the ballpark.
