Malibu's Caroline Pietrzyk to Race at Master's Meet

Sophomore Caroline Pietrzyk will race against the best runners in Southern California at Masters Meet.

Malibu High School's Caroline Pietrzyk will take another big step in her athletic career when she races at the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet on Friday.

The sophomore won her first Division IV championship racing to a lifetime best 10:47.70 in the 3,200 final.

"It feels great. I didn't realize (I made Masters) until now. I was just trying to PR. That's all I wanted," Pietrzyk told the LA Daily News after the race.

Pietrzyk is the third MHS female in program history to win a section title, but the first since 2000.

Pietrzyk will race against 11 other runners, including Simi Valley's Sarah Baxter who won her third-straight Division I title.
