Rough Road Ahead for Pepperdine Hoops

The Waves' nonconference schedule will include three Pacific 12 opponents.

No matter how well new men's basketball coach fares in his first season, no one can accuse his team of a cupcake schedule.

The Waves' nonconference schedule was released Tuesday, and among the 12 games are three contests against Pacific 12 Conference opponents—two on the road and one in a tournament.

Pepperdine travels to Tempe to play Arizona State on Nov. 15, takes on UCLA at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on Nov. 28 and tips off against Washington State in the Cougar Hardwood Classic at Key Arena in Seattle on Dec. 22.

Wilson, a 1989 Pepperdine graduate, was a backup point guard for the Waves from 1984 to 1986. After a back injury forced him to miss the '86-'87 season, he returned as the starting point guard in '87-'88 and '88-'89.

The Waves return four starters and 10 lettermen from a squad that went 12-21 last season under coach Tom Asbury (the team's highest win total since '04-'05) and was sixth in the West Coast Conference.
