Sharks Boys Soccer Gets National Attention

The team is undefeated and has outscored its opponents by a wide margin.

The boys varsity soccer team is having a strong season. The team is 8-0-0 and ranked 61st in the nation by the high school sports website MaxPreps. The Sharks are also ranked 32nd in California and 15th in the CIF Southern Section, which is one of the most competitive regions for high school soccer in the country.

Teams facing the Sharks have been unable to stop Malibu's goal scoring, while also struggling on the offensive end. Malibu has outscored its opponents 49-6.

The Sharks' most recent win was on Friday, 2-1 over Tri-Valley League rival Oak Park. Malibu plays again today at 3:30 p.m. at Oaks Christian, a team Malibu has not beaten in several years.

"Malibu fans of the team are exceptional, and the team expressed its gratitude for the resounding turnout at Oak Park, where even the Oak Park players acknowledged there were more Malibu High fans than Oak Park fans in the stadium," team parent Dominic Fote wrote in an email to Malibu Patch.

He continued, "This is a very special group of boys, and we have a very special and excellent head coach, Lloyd Kinnear, who is shepherding our little men to national recognition."
