Sharks Volleyball Wins Playoff Opener
The Malibu High School girls varsity volleyball team defeats Bishop Conaty-Loretto in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
The stands were packed Tuesday night at as the home team took the court in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4A girls varsity volleyball tournament. The Sharks (18-6) gave the performance the cheering crowd was looking for, and defeated Bishop Conaty-Loretto in three-straight games.
"These girls are motivated to win it all, and honestly they have the talent to do it," said Malibu High athletic director Chris Neier.
Jason Clark, who teaches math at Malibu High and played college football, added, "I have several of these players in my class and they are amazing students and college-level athletes."

The first game was a runaway for Malibu as the Sharks easily took down their opponent. As the crowed roared for the home team, the second game flew by with several service runs by Malibu, some incredible offensive spikes and an impressive defense that dug everything. With the tremendous support of family and friends in attendance, Malibu took the third game to complete the sweep and win the match.
The Sharks will play in the second round on Thursday against the winner of Fairmont Prep/California Lutheran.
