ABC World News Highlights 'Emily' Robot

The robot was named after Emily Shane, a Malibu girl who was killed when a car struck her on Pacific Coast Highway in April 2010.

A life-saving robot named in memory of Malibu's Emily Shane was featured Wednesday night on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.

The "Emily" is remote controlled by a lifeguard and can reach up to 24 miles per hour, and will be used this summer on California's beaches, according to ABC News.

Emily Rose Shane was killed when a car struck her on Pacific Coast Highway in April 2010. Her killer, Sina Khankhanian was earlier this month.
