'Bigger, Better Rides' on Tap for Malibu Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off

The Malibu Kiwanis Club's annual Chili Cook Off will feature live entertainment, a carnival and fair, as well as a dozen different kinds of chili.

Carnival rides, a dozen different types of chili and live entertainment are on tap for this weekend's .

The festival, now in its 31st year, gets underway Friday, Aug. 31 and runs through Monday, Sept. 3 on the corner of Civic Center Way and Stuart Ranch Road.

"We have bigger and better rides this year," said John Paola, who is organizing the event along with Sal Cirnigliaro.

The Kiwanis Club is sponsoring the Wounded Warriors Project. Festival goers will have a chance to sign the Malibu Quilt of Valor made by Kiwanis members, write a letter to the troops or make a donation by taking part in an auction.

Musical acts include Karma Dealers and the Harsh Carpets.

The hours are: 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday; 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

The cost of admission is $10 per day, and $5 for children aged 5-11. A four-day pass for two people is $100. More information is available at www.malibukiwanischilicookoff.com.
