Artist to Ring in 40 Years at Arts Festival

Rodionoff's photograph exhibit is one of over two-hundred fine arts exhibits which will be displayed at the Malibu Arts Festival in July.

While , will be celebrating its forty-first year this July Nick Rodionoff will be celebrating his 40th year of displaying his photography at the festival.

Rodionoff's photography is just one of the over two-hundred fine arts exhibits which will be displayed at the Malibu Arts Festival.

The two-day event will run July 28-29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in front of the Malibu Civic Center.

The Malibu transplant who was featured artist at the 36th Annual Malibu Arts Festival, attended the first Malibu Arts Festiveal as a visitor, because he didn't yet live in Malibu.

After moving the next year to the Malibu community, the photographer has made it a point to take part in the festival every year.

He said he has continued to set up his exhibit at the festival because of the connection the festival brings to the community.

“It’s one of the few times a year when the whole community gets together," Rodionoff said.

Rodionoff, who is also the head coach of the Women's Swimming and Diving Team, focuses his photograhy on nature scenes in Malibu. 

His collections feature seascapes, sunsets, stills of the Malibu Pier, and wildlife native to Malibu.

Rodionoff said he originally moved to Malibu because of its natural beauty, and could think of nothing better than photographing Malibu.

“I want to capture the spectacular images you see here, like the surf and the sunsets,” Rodionoff said.

At the festival this year, Rodionoff said he will do something a little different with his exhibit. He will display photographs documenting iconic places along the Malibu coastline.

“When people have looked at my exhibits in the past they have asked me where are [the photographs are featuring] classic spots like the Paradise Cove,” Rodionoff said, "So this year I decided to do a tour of Malibu."
