CERT Volunteers Visit Malibu High
Malibu Community Emergency Response Team members visit Malibu High to educate the seniors about the opportunities CERT offers.
Six volunteer Malibu Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members visited for several hours on Friday to educate the seniors about the great opportunities CERT offers. A new class starts Saturday, Feb. 4.
Students were encouraged to sign up to learn about how to protect themselves and their families, and perhaps save the lives of others. The seniors are required to fulfill 20 hours of community service time during their senior year, and the CERT training offers exactly 20 hours. It's a great way to have fun, learn life-saving information and complete the community service requirement.
CERT members Ken Krueger, Marshall Thompson, Michele Stein, Shifra Wilder, Ron McIntosh and I gave students an overview about go kits, fire extinguishers, cribbing, CPR, first aid and how CERT works with first responders.
