"Cash mobs" are the newest way to support local businesses.
Listen up Malibu - there is a new way to shop local and we should start doing it here. More than 150 cities are doing it. You pick one or two local busineses keeping it secret - let everyone know which ones through Facebook and Twitter. Then everyone descends upon the unsuspecting businesses and spends money on their products or services to support the local economy.
Here's how it works: organizers set a time and date, pick a business, alert followers and then do a meet-up at the business for 30 minutes of shopping. It's fun, helps the local stores and brings the commmunity together.
