Still Paradise After All These Years

On the western tip of Malibu sits the renowned Paradise Cove Beach Cafe. Popular amongst tourists and locals, it’s the only restaurant in town right on the sand. It also happens to be one of my favorite places in Malibu.

Although impressive, my affinity for this unique spot is not because of the frequent celebrity sightings or legendary movies and TV shows that were filmed here. It’s because Paradise Cove is one of the first places my husband took me when he started sharing his love for the ‘Bu many years ago. My first trips were all about spending long afternoons in the adirondack chairs -- beers in bucket, feet in sand. Add to that the unobstructed views, amazing fish tacos, and people watching that would keep me entertained for hours, it would always equal a perfect day.

But then I moved here and discovered the breakfast. If you’ve read my posts before, you know I’m a fan of the Bloody Mary. Whether enjoyed at the bar, next to the fireplace, or in a booth by the window (surrounded by some of the most amazing historic prints of Malibu I’ve ever seen), their “World Famous” Bloody Mary is delicious. I’m equally a fan of the Cinnamon French Toast with warm maple syrup.  And you can never go wrong with the Avocado, Applewood Smoked Bacon & Jack Cheese Omelette or Malibu Country Breakfast...in which case, the breakfast potatoes are a must.

Over the years, I’ve been proud to bring friends and family to “the Cove.” First my sister for a weekend getaway, then our best friends for a taste of the good life. Most recently, we treated my in-laws to the experience, and I believe my father-in-law’s exact words were, “These are the best eggs I’ve ever had.” Compliments like those don’t come easy!

There’s just something cool about being at Paradise Cove. Its retro vibe makes you feel as though you’ve stepped back into the days that were probably some of Malibu’s greatest. I’m not jaded by the fact that I’m now very lucky to be able to visit whenever I want.

But until I get there next, I’ll continue to cherish all my fond memories...and of course, proudly wear my Paradise Cove hoodie on the weekends.
