For as many times as I have shopped at the Malibu Country Mart (and trust me, there’s been a lot!), I’ve never really had a good excuse to step foot in Alice and Olivia, a fashion house I’ve long admired and always been a fan of. I take that back, I’ve probably made up plenty of excuses to stop in – everything from “I might have an extravagant wedding to attend next year” to “What if I get invited to a gala on a yacht?” Clearly I live in a dream world. The point is, I love shopping...but I also love living in Malibu. So one has definitely had to take a back seat to make room for the other.
Imagine my excitement when I found out I needed to attend a prestigious recognition dinner for work. Visions of A + O danced through my head and I couldn’t wait to have an “excuse” to now visit my beloved dress shop. The experience was more than I could have hoped for because I was lucky enough to go on a night when Lindsey was working. If anyone has had the pleasure of crossing paths with Lindsey, you know what I’m talking about. She made every minute of trying on dresses an experience. She also had great advice and helped me talk through styling options for each special dress. Needless to say, I left with a dress that I was in love with and still smile every single time I put it on. I also left with the cutest Alice and Olivia garment bag that I somehow find just as much joy in when I look at it.
My event took place just a few weeks ago, and while it may not have been a black-tie wedding or a fancy gala, it was truly special. I had the honor of watching someone I consider a true friend accept an award she more than deserved. I’ll never forget every detail about the night, including the happiness on her face as all her hard work was recognized by a room of very influential leaders. I like to think this is just one of the special moments my “Rubie 2 Button Mini” will witness.

In all seriousness, special moments can happen in many ways. A dress can be more than just a purchase and a chance encounter with someone new can have a lasting effect. For me, I was lucky enough to find both in one trip to Alice and Olivia.
