    Hello and thank you for reading my family story. My name is Brian Howard and I'm the proud father to a wonderful son Deacon who is 8, and a beautiful daughter Blake who just turned 3. My wife Tabitha, our children, and myself have been struggling with homelessness for the past 6 months. It is this brief story that I'd like to share with you.       Our homeless situation began on July 11th, 2013. That day was my birthday and also the day my class A commercial drivers license was due for renewal. So I went to the Department of Motor Vehicles that morning to renew and was told I wouldn't be able to renew. A truck company I had worked for, who happens to be now out of business, never took care of any mechanical violations I received while operating their trucks, leaving me responsible for every ticket. Being a paycheck to paycheck family, I had no way to cover the nearly twenty thousand dollar price tag I was left with.        Later that day I contacted my current employer of over 2 years whose semi truck I was operating. I told him what was going on thinking that for of all my hard work and dedication to his 11 truck company he might help me. I was sadly mistaken. Not only did I get an " oh well, Now I can hire someone cheaper," but as he was not only my boss but also our landlord, I was given the question, " you gonna have the rent?"       Sadly we were forced to sell all our possessions and move into our suv. Not being in this kind of situation before I did the only thing I could think of. Go to the Department of Social Services.       DPSS gave us a 120 day voucher to stay at an emergency shelter with the expectations that after the 120 days we would be transferred to transitional housing. With no available housing and decreased government monies transitional housing is no longer available to us. December 19th was our 120 days and we are only still at this shelter because we refuse to leave back into our truck. Our time here is numbered in days. Also, due to paperwork error on our 120 day mark our cash and food benefits have been cut off completely. We are now very fearful for our future.       I am reaching out in hopes that people reading this may feel compelled to help us. Any help is welcomed. If you have the means to donate. Please do. If you feel prayer is your only way to assist us, please pray with us. My phone will be turned off in 2 days but I will answer all emails.       Lastly, I ask you share my story. I called the shelter mentioned in the post to see if the story checked out and it does (to my surprise). Please read and do what you can.I emailed him to ask what his greatest needs are and he's hoping people will donate 5 or 10 bucks here or there for dinner and toilet paper (their most immediate needs followed by laundry-mat).http://upwardboundfamily.blogspot.com/01/24/14- today's update is I had the meeting with the program director who let me know come Monday they will start the eviction process. I never knew a family with kids could get evicted from an emergency shelter. I guess when they stop getting paid for you being here they stop caring. Homelessness like criminals I guess are just big business. Enjoy your paychecks staff.....
