Malibu Adoptions Can Save These Lives

By Andrea Braver & J. Flora Katz

Jersey
RED ALERT, must be adopted immediately! Please help her. Jersey has come so far  -- all the way from another shore, it seems. This little girl with the Jack Russsell stub of a tail started out as a cubby-hugger. Fearful, worried, one of those quck-draw McGraw dogs who runs away when the leash appears. Yet there was something so intriguing about her that made her irresistible.

We took it slowly at first but there was no doubt about it, Jersey was a sweetheart who needed a chance. Gloriously happy each time she started her walks, her joy was catching. When out in the volunteer room, sans leash, she was frisky and bouncy and loads of fun.

Fast forward three weeks and we've got another dog entirely. Jersey never ever stops smiling and she's more than eager to slip her head into the loop now.  Another asset is her service as mentor to an exceptionally fearful little doxie-chi mix who shares her kennel. She's showing her that things might not be so bad if you learn to trust  --  and Jersey has.

I love Jersey and can't bear to see anything happen to her. This little 2-year old, 15 pound, girl is on red alert and totally out of time at the shelter. Save Jersey, Adoption ID Adoption No. is A1391760.

Sprint
Sprint is one of those puppies that no one can resist. A chubby little body that begs to be squeezed. Fur so soft you want to caress it. Although he's only seven pounds, each and every one is totally lovable.

Unfortunately, Sprint has been hanging out in ISO these days -- though he would much rather be sprinting around your place. I bet the food is better -- not to mention the soft beds.

Even though he's just 4 months old Sprint has a pelvic fracture that will most likely require surgery so that he can live out his puppyhood as well as adult days playing and jumping and cuddling as he was meant to. Puppies should not be denied such simple pleasures as running and pouncing and being silly. But, someone did that to Sprint by letting him get hurt. It's tragic.  It's maddening.  But, it is the reality for him. Undoubtedly, if Sprint was out in the open kennels, he would certainly have been adopted by now. Just look at that face!!! But, being fracturally challenged, he has gone unnoticed. That's why we are here -- to see if there is some kind soul out there who will save him and get him the medical attention he needs.

Four months old is just WAY TOO YOUNG for a puppy to leave us and be put down. Those eyes are begging for someone to save him. Sprint's Adoption ID No. is A1401444. (You can also donate to his care, please contact Andrea!)
