Jaime Le, an eighth grade student at Malibu High and member of the University Church youth group at Pepperdine, spent two weeks in Kenya this past summer.

As a way to spread the word about his trip and inspire others, Jaime is hosting a benefit BBQ open to the Malibu community in honor of Made in the Streets, the non-profit he worked with while in Kenya.

The event is set for Sept. 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the Baxter Drive Park at Pepperdine.

"I was 13 years old when I went to Nairobi, Kenya with my Youth Group to work with an organization called Made in the Streets. It was a life changing experience for me. In addition to learning so much about the needs of people thousands of miles away from my home, we had fun there with the kids at their school in Kamulu and made wonderful new friends," Jaime said.

He hopes to raise $4,000 to help the kids at Made in the Streets to go on their Christmas trip and buy food and clothing for the kids still living on the streets of Nairobi.
